After a hiatus of a few years since The Grand Hotel closed it doors to live music, Cairns’s longest running original music session, ‘Resonate’ returns. Resonate will be hosted by Pandamonium Records/NQ Music Press at Raintrees Tavern every Sunday from the 8th of March.
Originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, then at the Grand Hotel as a Sunday afternoon session format, Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Mark Myers, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate will now be staged Sunday afternoons at Raintrees Tavern in the popular Sunday sesh format with 3 acoustic singer/songwriter acts each week.
The gig has also hosted countless touring and local original acts over the years. Resonate has become well known on the touring circuit with many touring bands passing through stripping back to a few members to get an extra gig while in town and making their tour more financially viable.
Resonate is NOT an open mic night – far from it. All acts playing at Resonate are screened and paid to ensure the iconic weekly gig attracts the best acts and quality control is maintained. Sound is provided by an experienced industry professional.
The first lineup for 8th of March will be announced on NQ Music Press in coming weeks. Like to play Resonate? We are looking for fresh new acts to play. You will need at least 50 mins worth of original material, and you may play no more than 2 covers in your set, and they must have an original spin on them. Any interested acts should email todd@pandamonium.com.au us with a link to your music/bio/youtube and pics. We will not respond to public requests to play on social media.
Resonate will be stage staged every Sunday 2pm – 5pm from 8th March at Raintrees Tavern Manunda. Entry is free.
