One of Australia’s profound contemporary voices, Kev Carmody, is returning to the Tanks Arts Centre on April 8 next year to showcase his first new release in 12 years.
‘Recollections… Reflections… (A Journey)’ is a four disc collection of politically charged stories, written and collected over forty years, driven by the struggles of his people and set on the land he loves.
Kev Carmody has received a host of awards in recent years, both by his music industry peers and the wider community, including being inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 2009, proving the lyrics of his famous song, ‘From little things, big things grow’.
In 2007, his great friend and longtime fan Paul Kelly drew together Australia’s finest and most diverse artists including Paul Kelly, Missy Higgins, John Butler and Dan Sultan to record their favourite Kev song, bringing a whole new audience to his heartfelt songs.
Kev Carmody’s songs have stood the test of time and highlight love, injustice, family struggles and political insecurities in strong and unequivocal messages about his culture and his people. After releasing his first album in 1989 – Pillars of Society – Kev hasn’t stopped making music and iconic songs. Impossible to pigeonhole into a genre, he is inherently Australian and his music traverses folk, country, hard rock to reggae rhythms and beyond.
A chance to spend an evening in the company of Kev Carmody is rare indeed and this show at Tanks Arts Centre is guaranteed to sell-out well in advance. Tickets on sale now.
