Having toured with Xavier Rudd & performed at Bluesfest 2014 – Nahko is on a mission to “create healing and activate people to change things”, through music.
Oregon-native Nahko, born a mix of Apache, Puerto Rican, and Filipino cultures and adopted into an American family, suffered an identity crisis from an early age – but the unifying power of music entered his life as a healing remedy when he started playing piano at age six. Armed with his newfound talent, he set out on a journey toward personal, spiritual and communal healing. Thus, Medicine for the People was born.
Huffington Post recently compared Nahko to Bob Marley, calling his music – a unique meld of world, folk & urban roots – as “beautiful and stirring,” and proclaiming him a “musical prophet.” Enough said!
Nahko and Medicine for the People are now returning to Australia after their enormously successful national tour earlier this year, which included two main stage performances at the Byron Bay Blues Festival and sold-out shows in Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
International globe-trotter Dustin Thomas (USA) supports Nahko & Medicine For The People at the Tanks Arts Centre show. He is making waves from Australia to Moscow with his infectious blend of beat-box / soul folk. Armed with a voice, a guitar and universal anthems of faith, love and war, this young artist continues to inspire hearts around the world on his mission of music, joy and peace.
This is also a TANK 4 UP LATE evening with guest artist, Ray Danes.
