Jasmin Chapman

Jasmin Chapman

Jasmin Chapman has been writing songs and playing piano and guitar from an early age. Recovering from a near fatal car accident in 2013 has presented Jasmin with numerous challenges.  A local singer/songwriter, and well known at the Tablelands Folk Festival as a spellbinding troubadour. Jasmin is also a performer in many Malanda Theatre Company musicals, and a music teacher.

Recording her new album “A New Beginning” with Aria award winning Nigel Pegrum at Pegasus Studios has kept her on her toes these past 6 months and the finished product is well worth the effort. I asked Jasmin about her experience recording with Nigel and she replied “Nigel was a dream come true. He is everything you could want in a sound engineer and I had an absolute ball working with him. Being a first timer in a professional studio I had no idea what I was doing and I often felt out of my depth but he made it a wonderful, easy (as easy as it can be!) experience. A very professional, dedicated and exquisite guy to work with.”

I asked Jasmin if she planned on touring the new album and she explained “I am hoping to do a festival tour all over Australia next year and I am applying for festivals as they become available. Festivals include Adelaide fringe, Woodford, National folk festival Canberra, Tamworth plus as many others as I can get my hands on!”

Jasmin launches her new album “A New Begining” this weekend. Jasmin explains “if you like diverse music, then you’ll have come to the right place. There’s a little bit of everything, from Folk to Rock, Cabaret to Country and a few wild things in between. Some of the stories are true, some fictional, some heartfelt and some are just plain fun!” She went on to explain “I tend to write out of my comfort zone, but Folk, Cabaret and country are probably my most common and my favourite.”

And what’s next for Jasmin Chapman? “I will start my performing at any festivals I am accepted to, and perform wherever else I can promoting the album as much as I can, but I guess I should start on album number 2! ”
