Support local artists and have fun doing your Christmas shopping at the same time! ‐ when you get on board the ever‐popular bus tour that celebrates Cairns’ Creative Industries.
Creative Crawl is a guided tour of Cairns’ CBD creative places and spaces, with “crawlers” travelling around town to several arts venues, all hosting events and offering the wares of local artists for sale. Food and refreshments are available at every stop, as well.
Starting and ending at the Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre, the tour features a live music showcase from Spotlight Cairns (a youth music development program) featuring Coleman, Ray Danes and Greta Stanley, plus a CD/merchandise stall, special popup Ticketlink outlet, the BGVC gift shop and the extensive Ricky Beresford’s ‘With Others’ collaborative art exhibition at Tanks Arts Centre.
The tour includes stops at the Cairns Potters Club, where artists and crafters will be onsite selling their wares, Flying Monkey Café where they will feature a ‘Not So Far, Far Away’, Star Wars‐inspired exhibition of work by Regular Rick and Daniel Wallwork, and Open Heart Studio where there will be numerous works by local artists for sale, and every possibility of a rousing singalong of Australian Christmas carols. The last stop is a chance to view the wares at Handmade Cans, a community shop for locals and lovers of all things hand‐crafted.
The Creative Crawl is presented by Cairns Regional Council’s Cultural Services team Friday 4th December, and runs from 5:15pm to 9pm on the night. Tickets are priced at $20 and are now available for pre‐purchase at the Cairns Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre, 64 Collins Avenue, Edge Hill ‐ open 7 days. See website for details.
