Carinda Christie – Gotta Let go

Carinda Christie’s music career spans over 3 decades , 6 albums .  Carinda lives in the mountains on the Atherton Tablelands on a property with horses, cows, goats, chooks etc.. you get  the picture.  They  grow ginger on their farm, 20 tonne this year, so it has been crazy busy.  Even though she hasn’t toured for a few years due to farm and family, the music is still very much in her blood.

Carinda Christies new release “Gotta Let Go” was recorded in Cairns at the Winepress recording studio  run by Ben Hakalitz (drummer  from Youthi Yindi) and recording engineer Digby Holeong  who works with the likes of Not drowning Waving, George Telek and more.

Gotta let go is 6 mins long,  so it wasn’t about radio airplay – more about just wanting to purely release something for herself. “Everytime I play it to live audiences they ask where they can download it, hence going back into the recording studio. So glad i did”. “I wanted to put this song out raw and live sounding just like when i play it,  Its a very personal song for me and has a lot of passion and frustration and drive.  Also my daughter Ella Christie is featured on it talking and singing  with me as I wanted a point of view from a teenagers perspective of the frustrations of life these days in a few words she wraps it up beautifully. “.

Her live band went into the studio and recorded the song with her, which gives it that live sound she was after.   Jason Donnelly Lead Guitar who wrote the lead parts, Mark Trimbolli on Drums  (and he played on the new Hakalitz drumkit which have been released this year www.hakalitzdrums.com),  Darrin Leonard on Bass.  I even asked Digby to sing backing on it to.
