A most excellent, triple ARIA Award-winning Australian folk-rock band, who’ve released four albums, won a bunch more awards and toured all ’round the world – The Audreys need no introduction to music lovers.
And now they’re coming to Cairns to play the Tanks on Friday May 29th, and there’s two of them – Taasha who sings and plays tiny guitars and keyboards and Tristan who plays normal-sized guitars and doesn’t sing. Sometimes, they tell goofy stories about when they used to be married, but always they play the songs their fans adore – going back to where it started with You & Steve McQueen, from their debut album Between Last Night And Us.
Formed in Adelaide, The Audreys are considered one of Australia’s highest profile roots bands. Their latest album – their fourth – Til My Tears Roll Away (2014) has already earned them acclaim. Their first three albums – Between Last Night And Us (2006), When The Flood Comes (2008) and Sometimes The Stars (2010) – each won the ARIA Award for “Best Blues & Roots Album. Now that’s saying something!
The band have played some of the biggest festivals in Australia. They’ve been part of the line-up on bills at A Day On The Green, Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival and the East Coast Blues & Roots Festival, to name a few. They’ve also toured internationally, gigging around the USA, Canada, United Kingdom, France and Russia.
They don’t need an excuse to hit the road, but as it happens they want to celebrate the release of their Til My Tears Roll Away album on vinyl!!
