Resonate – Clarketown, Bosko & Honey, Greta Stanley

Newcomers to Resonate this week are Clarketown, who will be playing the 7.00 Slot. They’ve have been gigging around FNQ in many different guises for the past 20 odd years and blend a rich mix of musical experience into their very own distinct style. Original material on their new EP, Troppo Gumbo, is influenced by retro, roots, roustabouts and funkabilly rock, it’s a crazy cocktail of musical mayhem . Clarketown will be stripping back to all acoustic instruments for their Resonate debut this Thursday.

Playing the 8.20 slot this week are crowd favourites Bosko and Honey. Don’t be fooled by Bosko and Honey’s cute and quirky appearance… this all-original, virtuosic and genre-defying duo has travelled the globe and is something to behold – Bosko & Honey will warm your heart, make you laugh, and shock you to the core. They used to hide in Kuranda but not so much since joining the global ukulele explosion back in 2005, when Bosko gave Honey a ukulele for her birthday. Charming and disarming, Bosko & Honey’s “Ukulele Love-In Show” is a unique experience in the truest sense. Part fiery cabaret, part fire-side chat, their act is an intimate yet wildly entertaining experience – an engaging blend of virtuosic musicianship, family-friendly yet subversive humour and sometimes the (very) unexpected!

Last but certainly not least this week playing the 9.30 slot is the always awesome Greta Stanley.

A dash of guitar, a bit of something sweet, a touch of folk, a sprinkle of pop, mixed with captivating vocals and clever lyrics, best served to a crowd of hungry listeners.

2014 saw the songstress land support gigs for the likes of British India, Kingswood & The Beautiful Girls, to taking out a readers poll vote to play local festival Sunnydayz (The Preatures, Violent Soho, Allday), and after submitting an original song, winning a government funded scholarship to attend BIGSOUND in Brisbane.

Greta has also seen her tracks in rotation on triple J unearthed digital radio and played on Sarah Howell’s Roots’n’all program. Greta recently released her Bedroom City E.P, you can check out Eli Birchall’s review here.
