Resonate – Savidas, Eddie Skiba, Eli Birchall

Favourites with both punters and Bar staff at the Grand, Savidas will be bringing the funk to the Resonate stage from 7.00pm this Thursday night the 19th May. From their warm down to earth vibe you wouldn’t expect that the duo Savidas had done shows that include a Royal Command performance for The Lord Mayor of Melbourne and have played at most of the biggest festivals in Australia. Consisting of band members Gumpy on Vocals, Guitar & Breaks and Uma Vernau aka Umalicious on Vocals & Percussion, the duo have been likened to the sounds of John Butler, Ben Harper and Micheal Franti. Their music having been described in a live review by Beat magazine as: “Audio glue. Being able to mix a handful of Genre’s and bring together the crowd till they’re all singing the final chorus of a song they had never heard before. Magic!”

Eddie Skiba will be playing the 8.20 set this week at Resonate. Eddie Skiba is no stranger to the Resonate stage and his catchy, well crafted songs always go down a treat with the Resonate crowd. Eddie has recently released a new album titled “Blend On The Border” and has been getting around the country doing launch shows. Check out Mitch Sullivan’s excellent review of Blend On The Border.

Eli Birchall will be playing the 9.30 set this week. Eli has never failed to impress the Resonate crowd with his soulful original tunes and occasional eclectic cover (he does an awesome version of Tom Waits “Way Down In the Hole”). We hope to hear some new recorded product from Eli soon.

Resonate is staged every Thursday night at the Grand Hotel in Cairns. Resonate blasts off at 7.00pm and entry is free!
