One of Cairns most loved musicians Moses Warusam launches his brand new album collaboration at the Elixir Music House on Saturday 24th August.
The album is a music collaboration between Warusam, and 5 Far North Queensland singer songwriters and is aimed at promoting and
propelling each artist’s musical development. Recorded at Pegasus Studio by Nigel Pegrum, the release features songs co-written and recorded with Trevor Takkos, Rohan Rusch, Sharmine Drieberg, Marcus Warusam and Daniel Gileppa.
Following on from the release of ‘Song’s For My Love’ (2022) and ‘Moses Warusam’ (2018), this is the first instalment in what the songwriter hopes will become a ‘Collaboration Series.
“My hope is it will be a catalyst for each artist to continue writing and performing their own music with a renewed inspiration and motivation,” said Moses.
Moses Warusam was born on Thursday Island and raised on Saibai Island by his grandparents Mebai and Rona Warusam. Moses started playing music in the local Holy Trinity Church and Saibai island Band as a teenager under the guidance of Ron Enosa.
Although he studied music at Centre for Aboriginal Studies at Adelaide University between 1997-1999 and later Advanced Diploma in Music at Tropical North Queensland TAFE in 2007-2009, his passion for music always took a backward seat to Rugby League until he succumbed to a serious knee injury at the end of 2008: thus elevating music to the front seat in Moses life. Moses worked as a Teacher’s Aide and Music Teacher on Saibai Island State School between 2003-2006, before relocating to Cairns to peruse his love of music in 2007. Over the past decade Moses has been an active member of the Far North Queensland music scene, performing and recording with numerous popular bands from the region.
