Resonate – GG Davies, Katie Jay, Savidas

This Sunday the 5th of Nov looks set to be a great afternoon of original music at the Grand. This week GG Davies kicks off the afternoon at 3pm with his larger than life voice and trusty dobro. If Raw primal Blues with feeling is what you like, GG won’t dissapoint.

Tablelands Songwriter competition winner Katie Jay will be playing the 4pm slot this week. Always popular with the Resonate crowd, Katie will be playing songs from her awesome debut album “You’re a Dreamer”.

At 5pm we welcome the return of Savidas who just stepped back into the Country fresh from a tour of Japan. The music of Savidas is a seamless wave of acoustic rootsy grooves, haunting melodies, and deep vocals that pose the question within the answer. Having been described as Michael Franti meets John Butler, a touch of White Stipes and sprinkled with the ironic truth of Leonard Cohen. Crossing the divide between acoustic roots, funk and hip hop. We look forward to catching up with this popular Resonate act and hearing about their adventures overseas!

Presented by Pandamonium Records and originally starting in 2003 at the Courthouse Hotel on Thursday nights, and then for several years back and forth between the Grand Hotel and the Courthouse Hotel, Resonate has recently returned to the Grand with a new Sunday afternoon session format. Resonate has become a local institution with Dan Sultan, Emma Louise, Danny Ross, Steve Towson and many more having all played Resonate early in their careers. Resonate is not an open mic night, and all artists are paid to ensure the best quality original artists are attracted and quality control is maintained. Resonate supports a sustainable local music industry.

Resonate kicks off at 3pm every Sunday at the Grand Hotel Cairns. Entry is free.

Resonate is on rain hail or shine with plenty of cover from the elements at the Grand
