Fresh from the release of her keenly anticipated new single LOW BLOWS, comes the announcement of MEG MAC’s debut full-length album of the same name, along with a 2017 Australian tour. The tour will include an NQ show at the Tanks Arts Centre on Saturday the 14th of October.

LOW BLOWS, set for release on July 14, is a powerful set of dynamic, deep soul; exhortations that have an all- enveloping atmosphere and presence, distinctly and uniquely MEG MAC.

Recorded in Fort Worth, Texas, the album focused on capturing a great live vocal performance, driven by a dynamic rhythm section and punctuated by MEG MAC’s piano.

“Overall I wanted it to really feel like I was just singing in the room to you,” MAC says.

“So a lot of the vocal performances are live and unedited; I think it was important to do that”.

MEG MAC shot to fame in 2014 when she was named triple j’s Unearthed Artist of the Year.
Triple j spearheaded her trajectory worldwide playing multiple tracks from her highly acclaimed debut EP, featuring the hit song ‘Roll up your sleeves’, which played across radio stations throughout America and featured in the US TV series ‘Girls’ and ‘Grace and Frankie’.

The mesmerising singer-songwriter grew up in an Irish family surrounded by the sounds of her mum singing old Irish songs and records by Ray Charles, Sam Cooke, Edith Piaf, Nina Simone and Otis Redding spinning on the turntable; permeating her soul.

“I was always inspired the by soulful voices and big voices I grew up listening to,” MAC says.

The bedrock of MEG’s compositional approach is reflective and personal.

“I started writing to make myself feel better,” explains MAC.

“I have always written about myself, keeping everything very close to how I am feeling”.
