Resonate – Vanilla Bones, Jeremiah Johnson, Savidas

Three fantastic original acts hit the Resonate stage at the Grand Hotel this Thursday night the 10th of March.

Playing the 7pm slot is father and daughter duo Vanilla Bones. Vanilla Bones is the name Ruth Young goes under when she plays shows with her Dad Nick Young, who just so happens to play a mean slide guitar and banjo. Nick Young most recently played with award winning local act “The Hillbilly Goats”. Ruth always impresses with her soaring ethereal singing and topical songs.

Playing the 8.20 slot this week fresh from his uber successful fund raising gig at the German club last week is Jeremiah Johnson. No stranger to Resonate or the festival scene, Jeremiah Johnson will be playing the middle set at Resonate this week. Jeremiah is a wiz on the slide guitar, and whether playing alone or with his trio makes a big sound with his collection of guitars, loopers and effects boxes.

Not letting up for a second with the great acts this week, Savidas will be bringing the funk to the Resonate stage from 9.30pm. From their warm down to earth vibe you wouldn’t expect that the duo Savidas had done shows that include a Royal Command performance for The Lord Mayor of Melbourne and have played at most of the biggest festivals in Australia. Consisting of band members Gumpy on Vocals, Guitar & Breaks and Uma Vernau aka Umalicious on Vocals & Percussion, the duo have been likened to the sounds of John Butler, Ben Harper and Micheal Franti. Their music having been described in a live review by Beat magazine as: “Audio glue. Being able to mix a handful of Genre’s and bring together the crowd till they’re all singing the final chorus of a song they had never heard before. Magic!”

Resonate is staged every Thursday night at the Grand Hotel in Cairns. Resonate blasts off at 7.00pm entry is free!
