Tiki Taane to tour NQ in 2015

He’s known in his native New Zealand as the ‘King of the Dubs’, but this diverse performer will rock the mic in this powerful, solo acoustic gig.

First rising to prominence as the frontman of Salmonella Dub, Tiki Taane embarked on his solo career in January 2007 and he’s never looked back, with chart-topping love ballads and platinum album sales to his credit. Renowned as much for his powerful, headlining live performances as he is for the anthems he writes and produces Tiki’s extraordinary ability as both a performance MC and a solo acoustic performer is something to be experienced firsthand.

Tiki’s musical influences and appeal are broad, traversing from dubstep, traditional style reggae, old school drum & bass and hip-hop, to more contemporary pop/rock sensibilities. He is considered a pioneer in the New Zealand music scene and it’s no surprise considering his stellar career. From a solo point of view, he’s scored double platinum sales and a swag of awards.

Tiki Taane’s single Always On My Mind hit #1 and broke two all-time New Zealand records – it sat in the charts for 54 weeks and was the first ever digital single to achieve platinum sales. His debut album Present Past Future earned him immediate acclaim and his subsequent releases, FLUX (2009) and In The World of Light (2011) cemented his reputation as one of the country’s best.

In addition to his own material, Tiki has also produced albums for top New Zealand artists such as The Adults, Shapeshifter and Six60. He is currently celebrating his most recent release With Strings Attached, a beautiful live album collaboration between Tiki and his band The Dub Soldiers, and an 18-piece string orchestra. Fostering a strong artist community and collaborative mindset has always been part of Tiki’s ethos and he has recently teamed up with the likes of dubstep heavyweights Truth, Optimus, Gryme, Bulletproof and Crushington as well as drum and bass legends Concord Dawn, Sambora and DUBXL.

He is revered for his live performances. No matter the set he performs, audiences are always reminded of the sheer power of Tiki’s ability to unify, warm and wow as he seamlessly delivers a unique performance experience. His upcoming performance at Tanks Arts Centre promises to be much the same and an unforgettable one for Far North Queensland music lovers.
