Straight from the Mulgrave delta cane fields, local favourites The Brazilians have just released their debut single ‘Delta Queen’ for the Rock’N’Roll loving ears of Far North Queensland.
You can hear the track HERE.
The band will be launching the new single at the Red Beret in Redlynch on Saturday the 1st of July with download cards being handed out on the night. The collectable limited edition download cards feature the cover art done by local artist Greg Dwyer and a scan code that links to the download site. The band has also hinted of continuing this trend for subsequent single releases before releasing their first full album towards the end of the year.
Delta Queen is the first song written by the whole band and was Produced by Todd Macalpine and Jeff Cripps with engineering by Macalpine at Pandamonium Studios. The track was Mastered by Rick O’Neil (Aerosmith, Pearl Jam, You Am I, Silverchair, Madonna, Midnight Oil, Powderfinger) at Turtle Rock Mastering in Sydney.
Born in the pubs of Gordonvale, The Brazilians got their start playing loud and proud, competing against the industrial din of the local sugar mill which operates 24/7. Having honed their act playing to friends, fans and the colourful characters that inhabit the sugar town, The Brazilians have now been branching out into the wider world, with the dual guitar attack of Macalpine and Williams turning heads wherever they play. Serving up their own sonic gumbo of classic rock, blues, and metal, punters have dubbed the Brazilian sound as ‘Northern Delta Rock’.
Featuring 3 of North Queensland’s most experienced musicians in Todd Macalpine – Guitar & Vocals (Blues Heelers, King Snakes, TBNT), Steff V – Bass (Fringe Benefits) and Jeff “Crippsy” Cripps – Drums (Ol 55, Mississippi Shakedown). With young gun Callum “Frullet” Williams on Guitar, The Brazilians lay down some killer Rock’n’Roll the way it is supposed to be played.
And the name? ‘The Brazilians’ comes from the original line up which featured Mark Burke on Bass when an audience member commented about Macalpine and Burkes follicle challenged heads. “Those bald C#nts kick arse!” and The Brazilians were born.
The Brazilians launch ‘Delta Queen’ at The Red Beret (411 Kamerunga Rd Redlynch) on Saturday 1st July from 8pm.
