Yarrabah Band Festival

Yarrabah Band Festival celebrates the talent of the local Indigenous community as well as the diversity of Australian music talent and this year’s lineup is more exciting than ever! Featured acts playing this year’s event include::

Joining the Yarrabah Brass Band and St Augustine’s College Band are a host of other exciting local acts including Faith Richards, Shaun Murgha, Nesariah Murgha, Lyndell Thomas, Sylvia Barlow, Double Dip, Nehamiah Harris, Norman Johnston, Bay Boyz, Sharmaine Stafford, Djun Djun Jarra, Black Crubians, Elverina Johnson Band and Barry Cedric & The Night Owls!

Since 2013 the Yarrabah Band Festival has become an anticipated yearly event showcasing visiting musicians and providing a platform for local artists to welcome visitors to the community. Over 4,000 people attended the 2016 event and 2017 is set to be the biggest festival yet.

In addition to the festival, from 23 to 27 October, the Yarrabah Artist in Residence Program will take place at Yarrabah High Schools. Storyteller, musician and advocate for social change, Shellie Morris who has been involved with the program since its inception in 2016 will head the program once again. Shellie has worked with communities around Australia to harness the healing power of music. Shellie will be working with students from the local schools, along with local legends the Yarrabah Brass Band in the lead-up to the festival, developing and practicing material that will be performed at the main event.
