Internationally acclaimed dub maestros Kingfisha have announced their first tour dates in four years, kicking off at Island Vibes festival on Stradbroke Island/Minjerribah before heading to Cairns/Gimuy, Brunswick/Bulleke-bek, Brisbane/Magandjin and Eudlo on the Sunshine Coast.
“After a covid induced break gave us time to explore some new sounds and projects, it’s been great to reconnect through our love of dub and revisit the Kingfisha catalogue with some fresh ideas,” said Kingfisha guitarist Drew Stephens.
Kingfisha have been perfecting their unique mix of modern reggae for over a decade. Their sound is seductive, polished, and irresistibly catchy, characterized by deep, all-encompassing rhythms, compelling synth lines, and treated drums, topped with a soulful understated vocal. From Europe to Africa, their live shows have enchanted audiences, while at home in Australia, they are celebrated as bass-heavy roof-raisers, winning Triple J Unearthed Roots back in the day.
In previous years Kingfisha have performed at coveted festivals around the world such as Reggae Sun Ska Festival (France), Rototom Sunsplash (Spain), Boomtown Fair (UK), IOMMA (Reunion Island), OstrĂ³da Reggae Festival (Poland), BluesFest (Byron Bay), Earth Frequency Festival (SEQld), Rainbow Serpent Festival (VIC), WOMADelaide, Woodford Folk Festival, Wide Open Spaces (Alice Springs), Queenscliff Music Festival and Peak Festival (Perisher).
